About the Opportunity
Our client is a rapidly growing financial services group with operations across residential mortgage broking and commercial/development finance. With strong growth underway and further expansion planned, we have been engaged to identify an exceptional General Manager (COO-level) to lead operational performance, scale systems and teams, and support the next phase of strategic growth.
The Role
- Residential Mortgage Broking
- Commercial, Development & Business Finance
The successful candidate will build scalable operational foundations, strengthen commercial performance, and enable the founders to focus on strategic relationships and deal execution.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Commercial
- Full accountability for P&L; performance across both business units
- Financial modelling, cost allocation, and margin improvement
- Commercial decision-making to drive growth and efficiency
Operations
- Design and management of end-to-end operational processes
- Recruitment pipelines and workforce planning
- Implementation of CRM, workflow systems, and automation
- Development of compliance, risk, and governance frameworks
- Performance reporting and data integrity oversight
People & Culture
- Build and develop high-performing teams
- Develop leadership capability across divisions
- Address underperformance proactively and constructively
- Foster a culture of pace, accountability, and client-first service
Ideal Candidate
- Senior leadership experience with direct P&L; responsibility
- Demonstrated ability to scale teams and build recruitment pipelines
- Strong understanding of mortgage broking operations and lending
- Proven capability in systems implementation and optimisation
- Experience with risk, compliance, and governance
- Success working in SME or founder-led environments
- Commercially sharp with solid people leadership skills
- Hands‑on, resilient, and comfortable working with strong sales personalities
