Senior Gardener – Handyperson (Ballajura Community College)
We are seeking to establish a pool of Senior Gardners – Handypersons for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the **** school year.
Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
As Senior Gardeners – Handypersons you lead and work alongside the Assistant Gardener – Handyperson and, together, are responsible for maintaining, improving, and presenting our College grounds and gardens in an attractive, engaging, clean, safe, and tidy condition.
Our gardeners are also responsible for providing a suitable growing environment for both soft and hard landscaping, including turf management.
Senior Gardeners would perform minor repairs and maintenance, as well as other gardening and handyperson duties in accordance with the Department's policies and guidelines.
Applicants who are friendly, self-motivated, use initiative, work efficiently when unsupervised, have strong gardening and handyperson skills, and are proactive in their approach to both gardening and general maintenance are strongly encouraged to apply and will be highly regarded.
This is a senior position; suitable applicants will ideally possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills as the Senior Gardener interacts with staff and students across the College.
They are responsible for maintaining accurate gardening records and managing staff performance.
Applicants should have strong leadership skills to supervise the tasks and workload undertaken by the Assistant Gardener and provide advice and support to the Manager Corporate Services on College grounds and maintenance matters.
In this role, suitable applicants will ideally have a passion for the outdoors, nature, and an ability to lead staff as you work with team members to create and maintain a clean, tidy, safe, and enjoyable outdoor environment for staff, students, and the community.
All gardeners must complete a mandatory two-day induction training programme through the Department of Education and should undertake regular refresher courses.
