Your Role
An exciting opportunity exists to join the team at Catholic Education Office in the position of Regional First Nations Education Liaison Officer, for an immediate commencement or as negotiated with the successful applicant. This is a term-time contract role for 32 hours per week until 12 March 2027.
This position will be based at St Brigid's Catholic Primary School, Emerald with travel required to Clermont and Springsure on a fortnightly basis.
The successful applicant will service the educational mission of the Catholic Diocese of Rockhampton by providing support to all aspects of First Nations Education. In doing so, advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students together with their families, communities, teachers and schools in the Central Highlands region.

Selection Criteria
The Successful Applicant Should Be Able To Demonstrate
A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures, as well as issues affecting them
An ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their families
An ability to liaise between teachers, Indigenous students and their parents/carers and should have a genuine interest in supporting students and their communities.

Mandatory Requirements
A current valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and valid Suitability Notice is a requirement of the position.
Current Driver's Licence
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
Australian work rights
It is a genuine occupational requirement that this position be filled by First Nation peoples, as permitted and arguable under Section 25 of the Qld Anti-Discrimination Act of 1991. The successful applicant will identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
