PROJECT RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT GEOLOGIST
Fosterville Gold Mine invites suitably qualified and experienced individuals to apply for the position of Project Resource Development Geologist. The primary purpose of this position is to support the Senior Resource Development Geologist in supervising, planning, resourcing, and coordinating various activities within the surface and underground drilling, logging, and assaying environments. This role focuses on ensuring the efficient execution of drilling projects, adherence to safety protocols, and the collection of geological data, all in alignment with the company's core values. The Project Resource Development Geologist collaborates with the Senior Resource Development Geologist to optimize departmental processes, control operational costs, enhance productivity, and maintain a safe working environment.
Reporting to the Senior Resource Development Geologist, your duties will include:
* Assist in Drill Planning and Management - Support the Senior Resource Development Geologist in planning and coordinating drilling activities. Assist in the implementation of drilling projects to optimize resource development and cost efficiency. Participate in the safe storage and management of drilling and geological data within the site geological database.
* Geological Interpretation - Collaborating closely with the Senior Resource Development Geologist, this role assists with the structural and stratigraphical modeling processes, and geological domaining, and ensuring the delivery of 'resource-ready' ore domains to the resource department. The position also contributes to the QAQC management process and contribute to the preparation of technical reports.
* Departmental Support - Assist the Senior Resource Development Geologist in overseeing the HR, mentoring, and administrative functions of the Drilling team and contribute to the development of professional development strategies within the Drilling team.
* Contractor Management: Oversee the analytical laboratory contractor, ensuring quality and efficiency in sample processing. Additionally, support the management of the diamond drilling contractor by working closely with the Diamond Drilling Foreperson
* Safety and Compliance - provide safety leadership by fostering safety awareness within the department. Always adhere to safety protocols and procedures during drilling and geological activities. Report any safety concerns or incidents to the Senior Resource Development Geologist promptly. Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements related to drilling and geological operations.
The successful candidate should possess the following:
* Bachelor's degree in Geology or related field.
* Minimum 5 years of experience in an underground drilling and/or production environment.
* Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
* Possess a comprehensive understanding of geological principles and concepts related to drilling operations.
* Proficiency in specialized drilling software packages, including Leapfrog and AcQuire.
* Familiarity with QA/QC procedures aligned with industry standards such as NI43-101 and JORC.
The roster for this residential position will be an 8/6 roster.
