Why the role exists
This role has been created to strengthen technical review and leadership capacity within the accounting advisory team. It will support ongoing client demand while helping to maintain consistency, develop team capability, and uphold high standards of technical quality.
The role
Reporting to a Senior Client Manager, this position blends hands‑on accounting work with day‑to‑day team leadership and support, while offering scope to take on greater responsibility over time.
Key responsibilities include:
* Reviewing and overseeing the preparation of financial statements and income tax returns across a range of entity types
* Supporting and supervising accountants at different levels, ensuring work is accurate, complete, and compliant before final sign‑off
* Providing technical guidance and on‑the‑job coaching to build confidence and consistency within the team
* Assisting with workflow planning and task allocation to meet agreed deadlines
* Contributing to technical problem‑solving across tax, compliance, and structuring matters
* Assisting with internal reviews, planning discussions, or advisory support where needed
Systems and environment
* Cloud‑based accounting systems, with Xero as the primary platform
* Practice management and document workflow tools
* SMSF and compliance software
* Microsoft Office, with a strong working knowledge of Excel
What we're looking for
This role will suit an experienced public practice accountant who values technical accuracy, structure, and supporting the development of others.
You will bring:
* Several years' experience in Australian public practice
* Strong technical knowledge across tax compliance for companies, trusts, individuals, and SMSFs
* Experience reviewing work or providing supervision within an accounting team
* CA or CPA qualification (completed or close to completion)
* Solid experience using Xero and cloud‑based accounting systems
* A methodical working style with a high level of attention to detail

Remuneration
A salary range of $90,000-$120,000 plus benefits
