Daryl Dickenson Transport (DDT) is a nationally recognised, family-owned logistics provider based in Carole Park, Queensland. Established in 1988, we specialise in transporting steel products and have grown from a small partnership to a medium-sized business with over 55 dedicated employees. Our modern fleet of more than 30 trucks, including prime movers and B-double combinations, allows us to deliver both local and linehaul transport services, container unpacking, and warehousing solutions.
We're eagerly seeking an organised and proactive Transport Allocator to join our Carole Park team. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and love keeping operations running smoothly, and ideally can start before the end of the year, then this role is for you.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, working in our operations department at the heart of the business, you'll play a key role in ensuring freight moves efficiently, safely, and on time.
Key Responsibilities
* Allocate jobs to drivers and trucks for the day and manage their start times.
* Coordinate local drivers to load and unload interstate freight efficiently.
* Plan weekly interstate jobs, including backloads to Brisbane.
* Book loads via Hive/C3, and Inbound Connect, and enter connotes into Jaix to create manifests.
* Communicate with customers and subcontractors regarding deliveries, freight availability, and updates.
* Assist with service schedules, equipment availability, and support during breakdowns.
* Handle customer queries and feedback, organise/assist quotes, and coordinate pricing/availability.
* Track fleet location and monitor staffing levels to support scheduling.

The Ideal Candidate
* At least 2–3 years of experience in a transport allocator role or similar
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Knowledge of Mass and fatigue management (Fatigue certification highly regarded).
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to be able to liaise with drivers.
* Confident using computers and technology to manage scheduling and freight systems.
* Familiarity with PBS or HML is an advantage but not essential.
* Experience with freight booking systems (Hive/C3, Inbound Connect and Jaix - desirable).
* Team player with a proactive and solution-focused approach.
