We are looking for experienced ecologists to contribute to our national Ecology team and grow service capacity in ACT and NSW. The role supports field work, assessments, reporting and project management with flexibility in working arrangements and travel.

Our biodiversity team delivers robust biodiversity assessments and specialist advice to balance development, impact avoidance and offsetting for the best environmental outcomes. Our Canberra team requires a Senior Ecologist, with relocation support or flexible remote working arrangements and regular travel, depending on location, along with incentives.
About the Opportunity
As a member of our national Ecology team, you will contribute to Umwelt's reputation for ecological projects across the ACT and NSW and help grow our service capacity. We are seeking senior and associate ecologist candidates with diverse field experience, assessments, legislative awareness, solid reporting and project management skills. The ideal candidate will have prior experience as a Senior Ecologist and strong ecological survey, reporting and assessment capabilities. You will have a passion for field work and a drive to deliver high-quality outcomes. We offer technical growth, flexible working arrangements and a collaborative team culture.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Senior Ecologist who has the following:
* Tertiary qualifications in environmental science, botany, zoology or related field
* 5+ years relevant experience
* Terrestrial flora and/or fauna survey experience, including planning surveys and coordinating field teams
* Experience in managing medium and large-scale projects
* Strong stakeholder relationships with clients, government agencies and team members
* Experience in collecting and interpreting ecological and spatial data
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report preparation and delivery
* Highly motivated with a strong team commitment
* Willingness to work flexible hours and travel for work
* Prior knowledge of the Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) is highly regarded
