What are we looking for?

We have a great opportunity for a Paralegal to join our Medical Law team in Melbourne. This is a casual opportunity, ideally with a minimum 3 days availability per week.

As a Paralegal you can expect to assist lawyers by reviewing, analysing and summarising medical records obtained from clients. Crucial to this role will be an ability to understand medical terminology and empathise with clients. Your responsibilities will include:

* Review medical records obtained by the legal team
* Prepare detailed summaries and chronologies of the relevant issues arising from the medical records.
* Determine whether further medical records are required for review.
* Deliver outcomes – assist in achieving positive resolution of client matters.
* Internal stakeholder management – develop and manage positive relationship with internal stakeholders, including providing regular communication regarding progress and timelines.
* Administration – liaising with the legal teams with identify further administrative needs in relation to medical records to help progress the client's claim.
What will you bring?

Ideally you will have the following:

* A keen interest in medical law, either as a current law student or similar
* A nursing or allied health background is highly desirable but not essential
* A natural passion for helping people and high level of empathy
* Exceptional experience in communication and customer service
* Excellent written and drafting skills
* Recognise the importance of attention to detail and time management
* Demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to multi-task
* Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team environment
