Council provides water services to approximately 18,031 people, servicing the Singleton township and a number of nearby rural areas and industrial customers. In addition, Council has a considerable raw water system servicing mining and commercial customers.
Council provides sewerage treatment services to approximately 14,709 people in the urban footprint of Singleton community comprising of gravity system, numerous pump stations, a significant area of pressure sewer and a treatment plant.
**THE ROLE**
The Treatment operator is part of the Water and Sewer Treatment Team who deliver high quality drinking water and treated wastewater services. In this role, the team are primarily responsible for the effective day-to-day operations of Councils water and sewer treatment plants, chemical dosing facilities, pump stations, reservoirs and associated infrastructure.
This is a hands on role and a typical day will include testing, data recording, inspections, maintenance, monitoring including remote monitoring and system control. The Treatment Team work a rotating on-call roster including weekend overtime.
You will inspect, monitor and operate disinfection, pH correction, filtration, fluoridation equipment, sewage treatment systems according to Council's Drinking Water Management System, Environment Protection Licence and legislative requirements, including the use of online and mobile systems such as SCADA.
**ESSENTIAL CRITERIA**
- Certificate III Water Operations, or willingness to obtain combined with relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience or ability to undertake water quality testing, monitoring and data analysis
- Experience in water and sewer, laboratory and/or plumbing industry
Certificate level training required for this position is supported under Council's Education Assistance Policy.
This position is offered on a **permanent, fulltime **basis working **38** hours per week spread over a 9-day fortnight.
Remuneration for this position is based on **GRADE 7** of the salary system which equates to a base salary with adverse working conditions allowance of between **$2,308.32 - $2,592.30 **per fortnight plus superannuation, rostered on call allowance, award allowances as well as planned and unplanned overtime.
