Your Opportunity
As a Client Services Librarian, you will provide leadership of libraries & staff to maintain high quality library and information services and resources for TAFE Queensland students and staff, in accordance with TAFE Queensland policy and Library Network service standards.
This position reports to the Senior Client Services Librarian.
This is a Temporary, Full-Time opportunity, to 30 June 2025 with a possibility of extension.
The position will be based primarily at Bracken Ridge and South Bank campus however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the established values of Safety first, Working together, Focussing on our customer, Showing initiative and Taking responsibility.
- Lead and coordinate all library functions and duties in customer service delivery, including operational lead for your library, rostering (including regular and emergent leave changes), allocating work to library administration officers and information services officers, and organising and maintaining library collections.
- Supervise and recruit local library staff and manage budget within the parameters of the TAFE Queensland Library Network business plan.
- Lead and deliver high quality customer service to assist clients with but not limited to: general enquiries, access and use of e-resources, loans including equipment loans, locating resources, reference and assignment help queries, wireless and PC access, printing, copying and scanning, in person, by phone, online or in writing.
- Guide and support library staff by sharing your expertise, making operational decisions, and ensuring adherence to our approved TAFE Queensland and Library policies, procedures, work instructions and directives.
- Deliver information literacy sessions, library tours and orientations as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement through monitoring the use of library services and resources, seeking feedback from clients, and coordinating and reporting performance data.
- Lead and participate in various Library Network and TAFE Queensland groups, projects, forums and committees, and contribute to the planning, implementation and completion processes.
- Lead the delivery at the library you have operational responsible for, the Library Network programs and other promotional and marketing initiatives to ensure client awareness and usage of services and resources.
- Lead the understanding and participate in the development, implementation and review of TAFE Queensland and library policies, procedures, work instructions and plans that support a culture of continuous improvement through team work.

- Proven highly developed communication, organisation and negotiation skills with experience in stakeholder and customer engagement and liaison.
Mandatory Qualifications/Requirements
- Possession or near completion of an undergraduate degree in Library and Information Studies which allows eligibility for professional membership of the Australia Library and Information Association
Highly Desirable Requirements
- Proven ability to lead and manage staff and library site operations.
