Our Newcastle facility specialises in the machining of large, complex components to exacting standards, and we are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join our team.
About the Role
As a CNC Machinist at Hofmann Engineering, you will operate and program advanced 4-axis Gantry mills and horizontal borers to manufacture and repair high-value components. You will work with a variety of materials and geometries, producing precision parts for demanding applications across multiple industries.
Key Responsibilities
* Set up, program, and operate 4-axis CNC gantry mills and horizontal boring machines.
* Machine large and complex components to tight tolerances.
* Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
* Ensure quality standards are met through measurement, inspection, and process control.
* Contribute to a safe, clean, and efficient workshop environment.
* Work collaboratively with engineers and other machinists to achieve production goals.
About You
* Trade qualified Machinist (Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical or equivalent).
* Proven experience in 4-axis milling and/or horizontal boring of large components.
* Strong CNC programming skills (Fanuc or Siemens control experience highly regarded).
* Ability to work with tight tolerances and complex geometries.
* Knowledge of precision measurement tools and inspection techniques.
* Safety-conscious, with excellent problem-solving and teamwork skills.
