About The Role
We are seeking a Zone Substation Electrical Technician to join our Operations, People and Safety division. In this role, you will be responsible for the construction and maintenance of Zone Substations, installation, commissioning and testing of associated equipment, and performing high and low voltage switching operations. You will also inspect, test, and report on the condition of network assets, operate plant and equipment safely, and use computerised systems for remote operations. This position requires participation in standby and after-hours duties and a commitment to safety, environmental responsibilities, and quality standards.
This role will be based at the Inverell depot.

You are a proactive and safety-focused professional with a strong technical background in electrical systems. You are adaptable, reliable, and ready to contribute to maintaining and improving our network infrastructure.
About Your Skills
You bring practical experience in electrical technician roles, with sound knowledge of substation operations and compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. You have basic computer skills, strong communication and interpersonal abilities, and can work collaboratively within a team while liaising effectively with stakeholders and customers.
Required Qualifications
* Current Driver's Licence
* Qualified Supervisors Certificate
* General Construction Induction Training (White Card)
* Certificate IV in ESI – Power Systems Substations or equivalent experience and qualifications
* Ability to maintain all regulatory and business licences, authorisations, and certificates required for the role
Desired Experience
* First Aid certification
* Elevated Work Platform, Traffic Control, Crane Borer, Dogman, Forklift licences
* Knowledge of chemical awareness, manual handling, and environmental practices
* Switching knowledge and Substation entry authorisation
* Demonstrated experience in technical and practical aspects of electrical technician roles
