The Opportunity
We are recruiting for a network and systems administration professional to join Boeing's Battlespace Communication System (BCS) Program. BCS is a next generation networking product that is the centerpiece for multiple projects and campaigns. The BCS combines both developmental and off‐the‐shelf hardware and software to provide world‐leading communications capability for users. It can be rapidly deployed from anywhere, and its modular design provides a flexible, scalable solution that can be customized for various mission needs.
We have a range of opportunities available as we plan for future growth. This role will engage you to apply your current skills and knowledge to contribute to the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the Software Development Environment and deployment of software to the Systems Integration Facility within the BCS.
Responsibilities
* Perform Linux systems administration tasks such as user account management, workstation and server provisioning, inventory tracking, systems monitoring and triaging
* Lead the planning, implementation, maintenance and monitoring of all aspects of a complex networking environment
* Create and maintain infrastructure and software development environment documentation
* Actively participate in regular software deployment to the Mission System Test and Integration Facility
* Proactively engage with all stakeholders, and software and systems engineers to continually improve the software development environment
* Conduct ad‐hoc testing within the Systems Integration Facility as required
* Contribute to environment automation using infrastructure as code concepts
* Active participation in a highly collaborative environment using agile concepts and methodologies
* Review pull requests, and provide constructive feedback to DevOps and development staff
* Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback
* Communicate and collaborate with a diverse team in a conscientious and inclusive manner
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
* Applicants must be Australian citizens to meet defence security requirements
* Knowledge and proven experience with the Linux operating system, system administration, virtualization and networking/IP stack
* Solid experience with IP networks, including routing principles, NAT, IPv4, IPv6, subnets, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, VLAN/VxLAN
Desirable:
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering or Information Technology discipline, or equivalent industry experience
* Experience within defence or complex engineering project environments
* Experience with administering commercial networking products such as Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto
* Knowledge of or experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare, KVM and Libvirt
* Knowledge of or experience with software languages such as Python, Ansible, Bash, Go
* Knowledge of or experience with Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket
* Knowledge of or experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, SonarQube, Artifactory, Gitlab
* Ability to develop and maintain documentation and reports related to managing IT systems and network topologies
* Sound knowledge of all aspects of the software development lifecycle with an agile mindset
* High level of organizational and time management skills
* Well organised with the ability to multitask and perform under pressure
* Strong interpersonal skills with excellent communication and documentation capabilities
