About The Role
Plant Operator 12 month Fixed Term Contract - Parc AdferWhat's the role all about? As a Plant Operator, you'll be at the heart of our operations—keeping things safe, legal, efficient, and running like clockwork. Working as part of a skilled and supportive shift team, you'll help power our facility while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
You'll also act as the Appointed Person (AP) on shift, supporting the Senior Authorised Person (SAP) in driving safe systems of work and ensuring the site runs at its best—safely, smoothly, and in full compliance with all regulations.
This is a 24/7 shift-based role on a rotating pattern, which includes days, nights, weekends, and public holidays, helping to ensure continuous and reliable plant performance.
What will you be doing? Every shift is different, but here's a snapshot of your key responsibilities:
Championing a strong safety-first culture—your actions set the standard for safe and environmentally responsible operations.
Assisting with the operation of the plant in line with its Local Authority Project Agreement, Environmental Permit, and Planning Conditions—keeping everything legal, efficient, and on track.
Supporting the SAP and site management in applying the safety rules, permits, isolations (LOTO), and all aspects of safe systems of work.
Acting as the AP on site, overseeing the safe and compliant execution of work, and ensuring our permit systems are robust and correctly administered.
Operating and monitoring the facility from the Central Control Room—using your expertise and the DCS to respond to operational demands in real-time.
Carrying out online boiler and FGT cleaning to optimise performance and reliability.
Conducting water quality testing and adjusting dosing to maintain optimal water-steam cycle parameters.
What do you need to bring? Qualifications & Experience: NVQ Level 4 / ONC (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline.
Previous experience working in a control room environment.
A solid understanding of combustion and power generation, ideally gained in a power plant or waste management setting.
