What You'll Do
As Payroll Manager, you will play an essential role in ensuring seamless payroll operations for a diverse workforce. Your day-to-day activities will involve managing end-to-end payroll processing using advanced systems, interpreting complex enterprise agreements, and providing compassionate support to both your direct report and wider staff. You will be responsible for maintaining compliance with all statutory obligations while proactively identifying areas for process improvement. Building strong interpersonal connections will be key as you collaborate with your Payroll Officer during onboarding before moving to a more flexible working arrangement. Success in this role will come from your ability to combine technical expertise with empathetic communication, ensuring every employee feels valued through accurate and timely payroll services.
* Oversee and manage the complete payroll process for approximately 350 employees on a fortnightly pay run, ensuring all payments are accurate and timely.
* Utilise the CareSystem payroll system to process payroll efficiently while maintaining meticulous records for compliance purposes.
* Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to one Payroll Officer, fostering a collaborative and dependable working relationship.
* Interpret and apply three distinct enterprise agreements—including home care, residential, and common-law contracts—ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies.
* Address and resolve any payroll-related queries or discrepancies promptly, demonstrating empathy and clear communication skills when liaising with employees.
* Ensure strict adherence to statutory requirements such as tax, superannuation, and other payroll obligations by preparing and submitting accurate reports for management or external stakeholders.
* Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes within the team, championing best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Stay updated on industry developments and legislative changes that may impact payroll operations, sharing knowledge with colleagues as appropriate.
* Work closely with your Payroll Officer during the initial phase at Oaklands Park to establish trust before transitioning to Hillcrest Office for ongoing responsibilities.
