Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer who brings technical payroll expertise and a heart for serving Christian organisations. You will lead the accurate, compliant and timely processing of payrolls for our growing portfolio of clients, including Christian schools, ministries and church-based entities. You will also help strengthen our internal payroll function as part of our mission to provide operational excellence to Kingdom organisations.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead end-to-end payroll processing across multiple payroll systems for clients and internal teams.
* Ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation (PAYG, Super, PAYG reporting) and applicable not-for-profit payroll requirements.
* Manage Christian school payrolls & ministry-specific payroll contexts (eg pastoral allowances, school terms).
* Mentor and support junior payroll staff and coordinate with external advisors as required.
* Respond to payroll enquiries from clients with professionalism and care.
* Identifying opportunities for process improvement, automation and best practice standardisation.
About You (Key Selection Criteria)
Experience & Skills
* Demonstrated experience in payroll roles, ideally within Christian schools, ministries, church organisations and/or not-for-profits.
* Thorough understanding of Australian payroll practices, awards and compliance obligations.
* Strong technical proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., Xero Payroll, MYOB, Tanda, KeyPay, or similar).
* Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
* Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
