About the Role
The "Operations Manager – Printing" is responsible for setting up and overseeing the entire printing process for soft signages and digital printing, ensuring high-quality output, optimal machine performance, and efficient production workflows. This role involves managing a team of print technicians and operators, developing and implementing technical strategies, maintaining equipment, and driving continuous improvement initiatives in the printing department. Please note: This is a freelance / part-time opportunity, with a potential to be converted to a full-time role.
Responsibilities
* Leadership and Management:
* Assist in setting large and small format printing operations in 800-1500 sq.mts in NSW/QLD region
* Build, lead and manage the printing / operations team, including print technicians, operators, and support staff.
* Provide technical guidance and training to the team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
* Technical Expertise:
* Oversee the setup, operation, and maintenance of printing machines (such as large-format printers, dye-sublimation printers, UV printers, etc.) to ensure optimal performance.
* Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to printing processes and equipment to minimize downtime and maintain production quality.
* Process Optimization:
* Develop and implement standardized processes and best practices for printing operations to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain high-quality output.
* Conduct regular process audits and implement corrective actions to optimize workflows and improve production metrics.
* Quality Assurance:
* Ensure all printed products meet or exceed quality standards and customer specifications.
* Collaborate with the quality control team to implement quality checks and maintain consistency in color, clarity, and overall print quality.
* Equipment Maintenance and Upgrades:
* Manage the maintenance schedule for all printing equipment to prevent breakdowns and extend the lifespan of machines.
* Research and recommend equipment upgrades or new technology investments to enhance production capabilities and stay ahead of industry trends.
* Production Planning:
* Work closely with the production planning team to ensure efficient scheduling of print jobs, optimizing machine utilization and minimizing lead times.
* Monitor production timelines and ensure that print jobs are completed on schedule.
* Cost Management:
* Monitor and control printing-related costs, including materials, inks, and maintenance expenses.
* Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety standards.
* Leading end-to-end operations in Australia, with strong knowledge of HR, compliance, safety, audits, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required. A degree in Printing Technology or a related field would be an added advantage
* 5+ years of experience in the printing industry, with a focus on soft signages and digital printing.
* Strong technical knowledge of printing processes, machinery, materials, and software used in the soft signage industry.
* Proven leadership and team management skills, with experience leading a technical team in a manufacturing environment.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong attention to detail.
* Familiarity with color management, RIP software, and quality control techniques.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
