Details: This position will work collaboratively with the ONC Program Support Officer (who is focused on operational matters and finance).

The key duties and responsibilities of the Business Support Officer are to:

* Contribute to the efficient running of the branch to meet business objectives and ensure matters are attended to in a timely, transparent and coordinated manner, through:
* managing, coordinating and tracking key branch deliverables including the assignment and implementation of external business tasks into ONC, including government, Ministerial and directorate functions;
* coordinating and tracking the assignment and implementation of review and approval functions within the branch;
* liaising with colleagues across ONC and across government to ensure appropriate consultation;
* liaising effectively with key internal and external stakeholders to address business delivery issues;
* supporting the Branch Leadership Team and Team Leaders Team regarding government business processes and procedures.
* Provide administrative support on procurement and recruitment; arrangement and scheduling of meetings; and travel and accommodation arrangement;
* Provide secretariat and logistical support for conferences, functions, committees and meetings including venue organization and catering; assisting in preparation and circulation of agendas and papers; taking minutes and tracking action items; and facilitating the preparation of reports and papers;
* Manage and maintain office systems relevant to smooth branch functioning and identify areas where improvements can be made;
* Other general responsibilities include to:
* understand and work within the ACTPS Code of Conduct and ACTPS values of respect, integrity, collaboration and innovation, and model behaviour consistent with the ACTPS Respect Equity and Diversity framework
* work within an Activity Based Working Environment
* organise, handle and appropriately store documents and files including sensitive matters and files in accordance with records management policies
* maintain records in accordance with the Territory Records Act 2002.

Eligibility and/or other requirements:

Mandatory:

* Experience in administration in a busy, challenging business environment
* Demonstrated experience and skills in Microsoft Office software.

Highly Desirable:

* Experience in the ACT or other government agency.
* Knowledge of the work undertaken by Environment, Heritage and Parks.

Notes: This is a temporary position available until 30 June 2026. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. This position is an activity-based work/hybrid arrangement, with two days per week (Monday and Wednesday) to be worked from the physical location of 480 Northbourne Ave, Dickson.

Knowledge

* Knowledge and good understanding of Administrative and Government processes.
* Knowledge and good understanding of contemporary communication (MS Teams, Webex) and document management (e.g. Objective) systems.

Behaviour

* Proven ability to work as part of a team and contribute to a positive team culture and demonstrate a willingness to uphold the ACT Government Signature Values and Behaviours.
* Demonstrated ability to consistently display commitment to the implementation of the principles of workplace diversity, participative work practices, workplace health and safety, and compliance with the requirements of the Territory Records Act.

City and Environment

City and Environment Directorate was established on the 1 July 2025. This new directorate is an amalgamation of positions previously advertised under Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate and Transport Canberra and City Services Directorate.
