Our client is a well established, family owned engineering business operating in Goulburn for over 40 years. What began as support for the local agricultural sector on the family farm has grown into a respected provider of high quality metal fabrication, precision machining and structural steelwork for mechanical plant and equipment. Today the team services a wide range of clients across mining, construction, earth moving and quarrying among others.
About the role
We are looking for a skilled Boilermaker to join our hands-on engineering team in a dynamic fabrication and maintenance position. You'll work on a diverse range of projects, including complex heavy structural steel fabrication, architectural elements such as handrails, specialised mining and quarry equipment components, and precision parts for major industrial clients. The role combines in-house workshop manufacturing—featuring multi-process welding (TIG, MIG, and Stick) predominantly on carbon steel, accurate interpretation of detailed technical drawings, and occasional use of laser cutting equipment—with on-site repair and maintenance tasks at local client sites. Expect a genuine mix of workshop-based production and field work, with the balance of workshop vs. site days able to flex based on your skills and current project demands. Duties
* Perform complex heavy fabrication work, including structural steel, architectural components, and specialised mining/quarry equipment
* Fabricate and weld using multiple processes: TIG, MIG, and Stick welding
* Accurately interpret and work from complex workshop drawings and technical specifications
* Undertake both workshop-based fabrication and on-site maintenance/repair work at local quarries and client sites (within ~30 minutes of Goulburn)
* Work safely at heights and in confined spaces when required for site-based tasks (support to complete if required)
* Operate laser cutting equipment as needed for manufactured products
* Maintain high standards of quality and precision across varied fabrication and machining projects
* Collaborate with the team to complete projects for major clients and local industry partners
Skills and experience
* Proven experience as a Boilermaker / Welder Fabricator with strong background in heavy and complex fabrication
* Multi-process welding capability (TIG, MIG, Stick) – essential
* Ability to read and interpret detailed technical drawings and blueprints
* Current Australian driver's licence
* Physically capable of working at heights and in confined spaces (relevant tickets/certifications highly regarded; training can be provided if needed)
* Desirable: Elevated Work Platform (EWP), Forklift licence, or other relevant site tickets
* Flexibility to work in a mix of workshop and site environments (no fixed pattern – could be predominantly workshop or site for several days)
* Strong attention to detail, organisation, and commitment to safety
* Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a small team
Benefits
* Up to $50 per hour, depending on skillset and experience
* Consistent full-time hours: 7:00am–4:00pm Mon–Thu, 7:00am–12:30pm Fri
