Job Description
Workforce Engine is recruiting on behalf of a well-established heavy diesel mechanical workshop located in Stapylton, Queensland 4207. Due to continued business growth and increasing demand for diesel mechanical services, the company is seeking to appoint a skilled Diesel Motor Mechanic to join its team. The successful candidate will work within a busy workshop environment, servicing and repairing a variety of heavy diesel vehicles and equipment.
Key Responsibilities The role involves maintaining and repairing a range of heavy diesel vehicles and equipment. Typical duties include:
* Carrying out fault diagnosis on diesel-powered trucks, trailers and mobile plant
* Performing servicing and preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications
* Repairing and replacing worn or damaged engine, drivetrain and mechanical components
* Working with workshop diagnostic equipment and service manuals to identify mechanical issues
* Conducting inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation
* Completing engine, fuel system and cooling system repairs where required
* Assisting with breakdown repairs and urgent mechanical work when needed
* Recording work completed through workshop job cards and service documentation
* Maintaining a clean and safe work environment and following workplace safety procedures
Skills and Experience To be considered for this role, applicants should have:
* A relevant trade qualification such as AQF Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Mobile Plant Technology, or an equivalent overseas qualification, or
* At least three (3) years of relevant full-time work experience as a Diesel Motor Mechanic, which may substitute for a formal qualification
* Experience servicing and repairing heavy diesel vehicles, trucks or plant equipment
* Ability to diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs independently
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards
* Ability to work effectively within a workshop team
Desirable Experience The following licences or experience would be advantageous, but are not essential:
* Diagnostic skills for advanced fault finding
* Air-conditioning licence
* HR or forklift licence
Salary $79,040 – $94,848 per year + superannuation (approximately $40 – $48 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience) Employment Type Full-time, ongoing position based in Stapylton, QLD 4207.
