The role
About the opportunity
Part‐time (2–3 days per week) fixed term until 30 May 2027 (maternity leave backfill) located on the Camperdown Campus at the School of Life and Environmental Science (SOLES). Base Salary $103,185 – $111,237 (HEO6) p.a + 17% superannuation.
The Senior Administration Officer will support the Chair of Metabolic Systems Biology within the Charles Perkins Centre. The role is critical to enabling research excellence by providing high‐level operational, project and executive support, and working closely with academic leaders and professional staff to drive complex research programs and seamless administrative operations across the Biology Domain.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Chair, research leaders and faculty stakeholders to support research and operational priorities.
- Coordinate administrative support for research projects, including planning, tracking deliverables and maintaining documentation.
- Manage grant application processes, including submissions, reporting, ethics documentation and stakeholder coordination.
- Monitor research project budgets, track expenditure and support financial planning in collaboration with finance teams.
- Provide high‐level executive support including travel coordination, meeting preparation, correspondence and briefing materials.
- Assist with the coordination of regular seminars under the direction of the theme leader and seminar committee, including liaising with speakers, collating materials and preparing promotional and advertising content.
- Oversee daily administrative operations, ensuring compliance with university policies and continuous process improvement.
About you

- Experience supporting research administration in a tertiary or complex organisational environment.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating grant applications, ethics submissions or research project administration.
- Strong working knowledge of university policies, systems and governance frameworks.
- Experience managing budgets, financial tracking or resource planning within projects or programs.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with academic and professional stakeholders.
- Tertiary qualifications or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and training.
