Penrith Selective High School is an academically selective high school located on Darug land. We have a coeducational enrolment of approximately 936 students, including 92.6% of students from a non–English speaking background. The school has a strong commitment to differentiated teaching and learning to meet the needs of highly gifted learners in addition to supporting students and their wellbeing across all domains of giftedness.
Our highly skilled and dedicated teachers focus on quality teaching and learning with an emphasis and understanding of strategies that meet the needs of gifted and talented students, including those who are twice exceptional (2e). We develop students who are innovative thinkers, confident and self–motivated learners who possess strong ethical values. The school enjoys the support of its culturally and linguistically diverse community and we have also fostered strong partnerships with Australian and overseas universities, cultural institutions, businesses and community groups and have established in-house enterprise learning.

Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Approval to teach mathematics 7-12 with skills and experiences in successfully teaching mathematics extension 1 and 2.
- Proven ability to lead staff in the effective planning, programming and implementation of the Australia curriculum ensuring alignment with NESA requirements and school strategic directions. Capacity to design, implement and evaluate differentiated and engaging teaching and learning programs, including assessments, that meet the needs of all learners and extend high potential and gifted students.
- Demonstrated ability to use evidence-based pedagogy, data analysis and innovative practice, including digital technologies, to improve student learning outcomes and engagement in mathematics.
- Demonstrated ability to foster innovation and inquiry in mathematics, encouraging a culture of critical thinking, creativity and problem solving that prepares students for future success. Commitment to contributing strategically as a member of the school's leadership team to deliver whole school initiatives that promote excellence, equity and student well-being in a selective school context.
General Selection Criteria
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching prospect.
