Environmental Initiatives Officer Role Summary
This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires the ability to coordinate community volunteering activity, maintain high levels of participation in Community Engagement programmes, and support volunteer innovation and new ways of partnership working with community groups and organisations.
The ideal candidate will have good practical knowledge of grounds maintenance and/or horticulture, understanding of the importance of managing activities safely, and experience of working in partnership with community groups to achieve shared goals. They will also possess excellent interpersonal and written skills, a strong skill base of using Microsoft Office, and be flexible to service demands and customer expectations.
Job Description
* Coordinate and maintain high levels of community volunteering activity in all Community Engagement programmes, and specifically with the Take a Pride in Perthshire Campaign and its Association.
* Support volunteer innovation and new ways of partnership working with community groups and organisations to assist the Council reach targets.
* Liaise and work in partnership with other Council Services, external agencies, businesses and volunteer community groups to promote best practice in care of the environment and environmental enhancement and improvement.
* Effectively cross team work to achieve the best outcomes for Community Greenspace.
* Assist with developing opportunities in greenspace for communities to work with groups of all abilities and possibly requiring specialist help.
* Assist with developing opportunities in greenspace for communities to embrace programmes and schemes to aid social and personal development.
* Assist with developing arrangements to work with other Council Services to aid efficiencies e.g. Community Payback; Economic Development, Civil Contingencies.
* Maintain, where identified, customer surveys and feedback.
* Provide information, as required, for internal and external publicity and promotional material, including web sites and social media.
* Undertake presentations, provide oral or written progress reports, team plans and attend meetings as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Good practical knowledge of grounds maintenance and/or horticulture.

* Strong skill base of using Microsoft Office.
* Ability to cope with the physical and emotional demands of the post and attend on a regular basis.
