Essential Functions:
1. Manage a wide variety of litigation (including class actions, arbitrations, subpoenas, pre-litigation disputes) and investigative matters for the Truist family of companies to protect the company and its brand. This includes assessing legal risk posed by matters, working to develop and execute litigation strategy, managing discovery efforts (including working with the eDiscovery team), and collaborating and coordinating with other key stakeholders such as line of business clients, risk management, insurers, finance, and legal teammates.
2. Drive case strategy and collaborate with outside counsel on fact development, discovery, briefing, oral argument, settlement negotiations, trials or arbitrations, and budget management in compliance with outside counsel guidelines.
3. With minimal supervision, provide cross-functional support and counseling to line of business clients and other attorneys within the Legal Department on efforts to mitigate legal and litigation risk for the company.
4. Keep abreast of and analyze legislation, regulations, and case law developments that affect the company and the banking industry.
5. Prepare and/or review litigation-related documents, represent the company in litigation or alternative dispute resolutions, perform legal research and analysis, and maintain files and records.
6. Serve as an individual contributor but may provide ad hoc work direction, leadership, and supervision to other legal staff regarding support on active matters, cases, or projects.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
1. Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school and licensed to practice law in good standing.
2. 8 years of post-bar experience in a law firm, government, and/or corporate settings.
3. Possess superior written and verbal communication skills.
4. Ability to prioritize matters, utilize time management skills, and move between matters fluidly.
5. Ability to handle a heavy workload, manage stress effectively and meet critical deadlines.
6. Able to work autonomously without close supervision.
7. Team-oriented mentality and excellent interpersonal skills.
8. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience or training in the financial services industry or a related legal practice area, with demonstrated specialization.
2. Significant complex litigation and/or class action experience.
3. Experience with handling litigation for retail wealth financial institutions, including experience with retail broker-dealer, investment advisory and bank trust services matters, including FINRA arbitrations.
4. Experience in a corporate legal department having successfully held positions of advancing responsibility.
5. An educational focus on business or finance.
6. Comfortable working in the entrepreneurial environment of a large, complex corporation.
7. Excellent analytic and organizational skills.
8. Possess strong negotiation skills.

Travel: Up to 25%.
