As an Employee & Industrial Relations Specialist, you will play a key role in delivering operational industrial relations services for ASIC, supporting bargaining, consultation and IR obligations, and enabling compliant, effective outcomes through expert advice and strong cross‑business collaboration.

People & Culture (P&C) is responsible for delivering people initiatives that are aligned with business strategy across the full employee lifecycle. The team delivers robust people strategies and services that support leaders and employees during their careers with ASIC.
The role
As an Employee & Industrial Relations Specialist, you will:
* Maintain flexibility across IR and ER workstreams, adapting approach and priorities to meet changing timelines, complexity and stakeholder needs, with IR as the primary focus.
* Lead the delivery of complex IR services under the strategic direction of the Senior Specialist ER/IR, including enterprise bargaining, consultation processes, industrial instruments and IR compliance.
* Play a lead role in enterprise bargaining and Employee Agreement (EA) implementation, including impact modelling, drafting instruments and supporting materials, coordinating implementation activities and managing post‑approval issues and workload.
* Provide operational leadership and coaching in employee relations matters as required, ensuring ER practices align with established IR frameworks and intent.
* Apply executive‑level professional and technical judgement in time‑critical and dynamic environments, escalating risks, issues and uncertainties appropriately to ensure consistent outcomes.
* Own and manage significant IR‑led portfolios and workflows (e.g. NCC, HCO, obligations frameworks), independently setting priorities and sequencing work.
* Manage dependencies to minimise risk, prevent bottlenecks and ensure a consistent organisational approach.
* Build and maintain trusted, influential relationships with senior stakeholders, P&C peers, Legal and other functions to deliver integrated, timely and credible IR/ER outcomes.
* Work collaboratively with Business Partners, Legal, HSW and other internal stakeholders to ensure a clear, coordinated and effective IR/ER function.
* Monitor and deliver recurring IR/ER outputs, including reporting, policy and procedure reviews, project milestones, consultation schedules and compliance obligations.
About you
In addition, you will have:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources and/or Industrial or Employment Relations.
* Significant experience in a senior HR Business Partner or Workplace Relations role, with deep technical expertise in Industrial Relations.
* Experience in industrial relations and enterprise bargaining within a Commonwealth agency is highly regarded.
* Strong knowledge of federal employment legislation and workplace relations policies, with the ability to interpret and apply complex frameworks.
* Proven capability in coaching and developing others to build technical expertise, strategic thinking and problem‑solving skills.
* Highly effective communicator with strong stakeholder management, negotiation, facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
* Demonstrated technical capability across HR, IR and ER disciplines.
* Strong business acumen with the ability to apply it in a practical, outcomes‑focused way.
