Support Worker - Families
We are seeking a skilled and empathetic Support Worker to provide emotional support to families and carers experiencing suicidal distress.
The core responsibilities include:
* Building genuine relationships with families and carers, grounded in empathy and understanding.
* Providing validation and emotional support, helping individuals feel heard and understood.
* Role modelling resilience and empowerment, demonstrating the possibility of recovery and relational healing.
* Advocating for the rights and needs of families and carers, while empowering them to self-advocate.
* Sharing information about community services, self-help strategies, and mental health supports.
* Supporting group activities, including facilitating or co-facilitating peer groups.
* Assisting with system navigation, helping families access supports for their wellbeing.
* Promoting family perspectives to support system change and inclusive practice.
* Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and contributing to care planning sessions.
* Applying human rights and recovery-oriented principles across all work.
About You:
You have lived experience supporting someone through suicidal distress, mental health challenges, service engagement, and recovery. You possess strong communication skills, the ability to form inclusive relationships, and an understanding of lived experience values and human rights frameworks.
