Job Title: Animal Import Export Specialist
About the Role:
The department is responsible for regulating the export of animal products and import of food products. As an Animal Import Export Specialist, you will be involved in technical assessments, inspections, and certification for live animals and animal genetic material.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support operations: Assist in conducting technical assessments, inspections, and certification for live animals and animal genetic material.
• Manage communication and records: Handle team email inboxes, maintain accurate and up-to-date records, and ensure documentation for imports and exports.
• Respond to stakeholders: Resolve inquiries, provide advice, and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Review and process documentation: Assess import/export documents, update records, and upload critical details such as packing lists and flight information.
• Schedule inspections: Organize bookings for live animal and reproductive material inspections, ensuring efficient scheduling.
• Prepare invoices and fees: Manage cost recovery tasks, including generating invoices and applying fees using departmental systems.
• Issue certificates and permits: Assist in preparing required documentation.
Requirements:
• Experience working in operational regulatory environments.
• Knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge of the department's activities and role of authorized officers and specialists in the Live Animals Section.
• Valid Australian motor vehicle driver's license.
Working Conditions:
• Combination of outdoor and office-based work.
• Occasional out-of-hours and weekend work may be required.
