As a result of a secured engagement with one of our National Security partners, Helix requires a Voice Engineer to join us on a long-term contract (12 months with expected extensions).
We're looking for a Voice Engineer with proven experience of solving complex problems, who thrives working as part of a team to push boundaries and is passionate about leveraging technology to produce world-class outcomes for critical intelligence and national security customers.
NV2 clearance is a minimum requirement for this environment however TSPV cleared people who apply will be highly regarded.
Voice Engineer Key Responsibilities
* Design, deploy, and support Microsoft Teams Phone solutions (Calling Plans, Direct Routing, Operator Connect)
* Integrate Microsoft Teams with Cisco voice platforms (e.g., Cisco CUCM, Unity Connection, CUBE)
* Configure and manage call routing, SIP trunking, and interop between Teams and Cisco environments
* Administer Teams voice features including call queues, auto attendants, voicemail, and emergency calling
* Configure and support SBCs for Direct Routing (Cisco CUBE and third-party SBCs)
* Troubleshoot complex voice issues across Teams, Cisco, carrier, and network layers
* Monitor and improve voice quality using tools such as Call Quality Dashboard (CQD), Call Analytics, and Cisco diagnostics
* Support migration projects from Cisco on-prem or hybrid telephony to Microsoft Teams
* Collaborate with network and security teams to ensure QoS, firewall, and routing requirements are met
* Maintain technical documentation, call flows, and design diagrams
* Act as escalation point for voice incidents and service outages
Voice Engineer Required Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a Voice / Unified Communications Engineer
* Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Teams Phone
* Solid experience integrating Microsoft Teams with Cisco voice infrastructure
* Deep understanding of SIP, VoIP, PSTN, and SBC concepts
* Experience with Cisco technologies such as CUCM, CUBE, Unity Connection, and SIP trunking
* Strong networking knowledge related to voice (QoS, latency, jitter, packet loss)
* Experience working with telecom carriers and service providers
Voice Engineer Desirable Skills
* Experience with hybrid or phased migrations from Cisco to Teams
* PowerShell scripting for Microsoft Teams and M365 administration
* Microsoft 365 administration (Entra ID/Azure AD, licensing, security)
* Cisco and/or Microsoft certifications (CCNP Collaboration, MS-700, etc.)
* Experience with global or multi-site voice deployments
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in IT, Telecommunications, or equivalent practical experience
Soft Skills
* Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
* Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
* Strong documentation and change management discipline
