You see the big picture, you've always worked on a grand scale, and now you're ready to re-focus on grand impact.
You have the opportunity to gain a wealth of expertise and a diverse range of skills, providing insight and knowledge without losing sight of your work-life balance or wellbeing.
In this role, you'll:
Work as part of the Rolling Stock Mechanical Design (RSMD) Door and Body Systems (DBS) team within the Engineering & Maintenance division at Sydney Trains. You'll contribute to the design, development, and assurance of mechanical systems for passenger trains, helping to ensure our fleet is safe, efficient, and reliable for the people of NSW.
Under the guidance of Principal Engineers, Group Leaders and other engineers, you'll deliver mechanical and systems design support across the asset lifecycle—from feasibility studies and detailed CAD designs to third-party reviews and on-site support.
You'll use modern design tools like CAD, FEA, and fracture mechanics packages, and apply robust engineering standards to create practical and cost-effective solutions.
Your work will also extend to technical investigations, system upgrades, and assisting in the assessment of designs by external vendors. Whether you're in the design office or out in the field, you'll play a vital role in shaping the future of Sydney's rolling stock.

Your ability to communicate across stakeholders—from technical teams to project managers—combined with your knowledge of current standards, asset lifecycle thinking, and problem-solving mindset, will ensure your success in this role.
This is a permanent RC5-grade opportunity based at Clyde, with a hybrid work arrangement. You'll be expected to attend the office or work on-site as required by business needs.
