Our client is one of Australia's best-known, market-leading brands, with multiple properties across QLD and NSW. They pride themselves on their sustainable practices as well as producing some of Australia's most popular, premium apples, since 1922.
They are investing significantly in the packing facility, with a $10mil budget set aside, which this opportunity will play a key part.
Your Role
The Packing Manager is a key role within this organisation, overseeing the smooth and efficient running of our client's apple packing facility, paying upwards of 35,000 bins annually. Advising, directing, and supporting shed staff, this role is responsible for ensuring all fruits are packed to the highest standards and delivered in full and on time.
From ensuring compliance, training staff and coordination of logistics, you'll effectively oversee the running of the soon-to-be-upgraded facility, running approximately 30 permanent, plus casual staff.
Working in collaboration with the operations and orchard teams, you would oversee the maintenance programs and uphold strict adherence to all food safety protocols. Your duties will include but not be limited to:
Rigorous product inspections
Accurate and detailed record keeping
Coordination of transport and logistics
Budget management for all labour and other packing costs
Run to pack programs, blemish sorting programs and software
Management and maintenance of machine operations
Staff supervision and training to ensure a safe working environment
Ensuring produce is packed to the highest standard using industry best practice
Manage pack outputs in line with seasonal fluctuations and supply and demand
Ensuring all hygiene standards are met for staff, produce, machinery and all other equipment
About You
We are looking for a highly organised individual with a methodical approach to problem-solving ideally in an apple packing environment.
You will have exceptional attention to detail and experience either in a supervisory or a team leader position. Flexible with strong communication skills, you are a team player who can easily work with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds.
You will utilise your commercial acumen and be an excellent communicator with natural leadership capabilities. To be considered for the role, it's important you can address the following
- Minimum 5 years' experience in leading and supervising a team
Previous experience with apples is essential
Understanding of mapping and Compac/MAF
Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office Suite
Committed to a culture of safety and team spirit
Understanding of the supply chain from receival to dispatch
Exceptional organisational skills in planning, scheduling, and time management
