**Position Information**:
This position is based at Evans Intensive English Centre which is situated within Evans High School, with a current enrolment of 230 students. We enrol newly arrived Year 6 and high school-aged students who need support with English proficiency. Students learn English in the context of Stage 4 and 5 key learning areas. Enrolments are thriving due to the rapid growth of housing development and economic activities in the region. Our current student body is comprised of 28 different cultural backgrounds with 35 different first languages. We service 54 suburbs including the Hills district and the Blue Mountains. We deliver the NSW Intensive English Program. Teaching and learning programs include basic interpersonal skills and cognitive academic language in the domains of oral communication, reading and responding and writing.

**Selection Criteria**:
- Approval to teach secondary English as a second language or currently completing or enrolled in an approved post graduate qualification for teaching English as a second language (secondary) as recognised by the NSW Department of Education.
- Approval to teach students with learning and support needs (secondary) and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs (secondary) in regular classes. Capacity to provide specialist assistance to students in regular classes with additional learning and support needs and their teachers.
- Capacity to provide specialist assistance to students in Intensive English Centre classes with additional learning and support needs.
- Capacity to incorporate current pedagogical theory and collaborative planning to deliver high quality, differentiated teaching and learning programs that maximise student engagement and enhance outcomes for individuals and groups of students.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork, effective communication and building positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents and community.
