Base Salary from $89,755 + 17% superannuation

Our team of researchers lead key internationally competitive research from molecules to medicines, from patient to policy across a range of therapeutic areas.
As a Research Assistant in the Drummond Laboratory, you will contribute to the development of research protocols and driving the execution of research activities focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in Alzheimer's disease. You will perform laboratory experiments, manage data analysis and collaborate with a broader team of researchers to achieve research milestones.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
maintain cell lines and independently conduct cell culture experiments
conduct microscopy and image analysis using programs such as Fiji and QuPath
conduct protein analysis experiments such as Western blot, co-immunoprecipitation, ELISA and immunohistochemistry
conduct data analysis, prepare reporting and presentations and carry out literature searches
laboratory assistance including managing inventories and preparing stock solutions
undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required.
About you
ability to independently perform cell culture studies and to maintain cell lines (Essential)
expertise in microscopy and image analysis (Essential)
prior experience in the additional following techniques: Western blot, co-immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry, automated image analysis
experience in working in a research-intensive environment
experience in developing and working on research projects, including expertise in using research protocols, experimental design, and data analysis
you will show initiative and have an ability to work self-directed when required
you will be enthusiastic about your work and have a passion to learn about disease mechanisms involved in Alzheimer's disease
you will be an excellent communicator both oral and written
tertiary qualifications in a relevant field
ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
