Role Purpose
The Retail Manager is responsible for developing and executing the centre's retail engagement strategies to maximise net property income, enhance asset valuation, improve retailer satisfaction, drive turnover, and elevate the overall customer experience, while managing a dedicated portfolio of retailers. The role includes leasing storage spaces and managing the centre's budget, ensuring efficient operations and financial success.
Key Accountabilities
* People Leadership – manage the annual performance cycle, conduct 1:1 meetings, maintain compliance training, health & safety, risk and compliance requirements, and manage budgets.
* Retailer Management & Tenant Relationships – oversee onboarding, tenancy administration, maintain communication through newsletters and updates, develop support strategies to drive sales and traffic, conduct retail performance reviews and collaborate with the asset team.
* Lease Management – manage lease variations such as assignments, abatements and trading name changes, administer storage licences, ensure compliance with lease agreements, and maintain accurate records.
* Centre Operations – drive improvements in presentation standards, collaborate with Guest Experience and marketing teams, support visual merchandising, signage and social media initiatives.
* Reporting & Financial Accountability – provide sales analysis, ATAM and VSA reports, and distribute financial information via Tableau, Salesforce, JDE and Anaplan; canvas retail media income opportunities and manage centre controlled debt.
* Bad Debt Management – write off debt, negotiate payments, coordinate legal action and mediation processes, and provide recommendations for rental abatements.
* Retail Coordination & Customer Service – onboard new retailers, resolve operational issues, support customer initiatives and manage feedback.
Experience & Capabilities
* Essential Experience – background in retail or property management, experience developing and managing retailer relationships, and ability to collaborate with stakeholders while reporting and managing finance.
* Critical Knowledge – excellent knowledge of retail legislation, leases and fundamentals, financial acumen, and ability to meet financial and centre objectives.
