Shape the future of Health & Safety at Fortescue
Fortescue is seeking a Health & Safety Principal (Assurance & Reporting) to play a pivotal role in strengthening and advancing our Group Health and Safety Assurance Program and enterprise reporting frameworks.
This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced business professional who is driven to excel at designing and leading assurance programs, translating data into meaningful insights, and driving sustainable, value-adding improvements across a complex organisation.
Operating at the heart of our Health, Safety and Risk function, you will provide trusted subject matter expertise and coaching, lead the HS assurance program and core health and safety reporting, and ensure our systems, standards and frameworks consistently enable safe, reliable and sustainable operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Establish and oversee the annual Health & Safety Assurance Program, using a collaborative and risk-informed approach.
* Coordinate assurance activities and deliver clear, insightful reporting on outcomes, trends, and improvement opportunities.
* Analyse and report Health & Safety performance data for internal leaders and external stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and insight.
* Provide leadership and technical expertise in the development, governance, and continuous improvement of Fortescue's Group Health and Safety Management System (HSMS).
* Design and embed robust systems, processes, and frameworks that enable consistent and effective management of health and safety risks.
* Contribute to the development of performance standards, assurance documentation, training, and best-practice guidance.
* Act as a trusted advisor, coaching leaders on health and safety standards and assurance best practice.
* Contribute to the ongoing HSEC digital transformation, including the implementation of Enablon as the future HS system.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience designing, embedding, and improving processes and/or systems in large or complex organisations (ideally within health and safety).
* Strong knowledge of assurance principles, with hands-on experience designing and delivering assurance programs, ideally within health and safety.
* Proven ability to lead improvement initiatives and influence stakeholders across broad and diverse operational environments.
* Advanced capability in analysing, interpreting, and communicating insights from multiple data sources and dashboards.
* A collaborative mindset and the confidence to engage with leaders, regulators, and external auditors.
* Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety or a related discipline.
* Qualified Lead Auditor (desirable).
* Professional risk management qualification (desirable).
