The Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to join a highly respected global engineering business in a pivotal strategic sales role focused on expanding the Oceania commercial function.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director and working closely with global leadership, you will drive regional growth across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific while helping shape the long‐term commercial strategy of the business.
The role offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to build on strong existing customer relationships, established market credibility, and substantial untapped market potential across heavy industry sectors.
As the business continues to scale, you will play a key role in building and leading the Oceania business development function, laying the foundations for a future sales team and scalable commercial structure across the region.
This role is supported by dedicated spare parts and technical support specialists, together with a Project Manager, ensuring customers receive fast, reliable, and responsive support.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead all business development activities across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.
* Identify new market opportunities and drive deeper penetration into existing strategic accounts.
* Develop long‐term customer partnerships across heavy industrial and process sectors.
* Build scalable commercial strategies and contribute to the future development of the regional sales team.
* Work closely with the Managing Director and Global Chief Business Development Officer to support regional growth initiatives.
* Identify and pursue opportunities across iron ore pelletising, cement, lime, alumina, minerals processing, pulp & paper, and related heavy industries.
* Sell complex engineered OEM technologies including combustion systems, burner solutions, pyro‐processing equipment, flaring technologies, and supporting process solutions.
* Manage long‐cycle technical sales processes involving multiple stakeholders.
* Prepare proposals, respond to tenders, and coordinate closely with engineering, commercial, and project delivery teams to ensure fast and accurate submissions.
* Maintain strong pipeline visibility and forecasting through PipeDrive CRM.
* Develop trusted relationships with stakeholders ranging from operations and maintenance teams through to procurement, sustainability leaders, project directors, and executive leadership teams.
* Evaluate customer operational requirements and align technical solutions to commercial and strategic objectives.
* Travel across Australia and New Zealand as required (approximately 50‐60%, primarily day trips with limited overnight travel).
Internal Collaboration
* Work closely with senior process engineers, project delivery teams, sales coordination specialists, finance, and global technical stakeholders.
* Collaborate cross‐functionally to ensure customer requirements are aligned with engineering capability and project execution outcomes.
* Support alignment between local commercial activities and broader global business objectives.
About You
This role suits a commercially driven and technically credible sales professional who thrives in complex industrial environments and enjoys building long‐term customer partnerships.
You will likely bring:
* Strong national sales/business development exposure across cement, minerals, lime, iron ore, steel, alumina, pulp & paper, or related heavy industrial sectors.
* Exposure to combustion systems, industrial heat processes, NOx reduction technologies, burners, roasters, flaring systems, compressors, or related process technologies will be highly regarded, though not essential
* Direct involvement in decarbonisation, hydrogen, green steel, emissions reduction, or energy transition projects will be highly regarded, though not essential
* Strong experience managing complex capital equipment or engineered solutions sales processes.
* Demonstrated capability in proposal development, tender responses, strategic account management, and consultative solution selling.
* Excellent commercial acumen, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to operate autonomously while collaborating effectively across cross‐functional technical and commercial teams.
* Strong strategic thinking, resilience, and a genuine drive to help build and scale a regional business function.
* Qualifications in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
