What You'll Be Doing
The Hand Trauma and Surgery Specialist Physiotherapist will provide clinical leadership and management of Hand Therapy services, delivering specialist physiotherapy expertise as an integral member of the Hand Trauma and Surgery multidisciplinary team. The role is responsible for developing and delivering evidence‐based care to patients of the Hand Trauma and Surgery service based at Royal North Shore Hospital (RNSH).
The Hand Trauma and Surgery Specialist Physiotherapist will have achieved nationally recognised clinical specialisation in Hand Therapy and will ensure patients receive the highest possible standard of evidence‐based care in accordance with national and international guidelines.
The Hand Trauma and Surgery Specialist Physiotherapist will provide expert clinical leadership and physiotherapy consultation services to physiotherapists and other healthcare providers to support the management of people requiring ongoing specialist treatment.
The role includes management, coordination, and delivery of specialised physiotherapy services for individuals with upper limb and hand conditions, in conjunction with the Hand Trauma and Surgery multidisciplinary team at RNSH.
The Hand Trauma and Surgery Specialist Physiotherapist Will
* Act as a consultant in the area of physiotherapy for hand trauma and hand therapy to staff and departments across the local health district (LHD) and state;
* Have responsibility for education of clinicians in this specialty across the LHD, state and nationally as appropriate, including the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of education programmes;
* Liaise with key stakeholders regarding the effective and efficient provision of specialised services to the LHD and participate in joint committees where appropriate.
The Hand Trauma and Surgery Specialist Physiotherapist will contribute to meeting the healthcare needs and expectations of patients, clinicians, staff, and the community by providing and maintaining a high standard of care in Hand Trauma and Surgery across Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD).
The role includes responsibility across quaternary, tertiary, and secondary service levels for Hand Trauma and Surgery therapy domains, including clinical practice; strategic planning; leadership and management; education, training and staff development; research; and quality improvement.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates Will Need To Meet The Following Criteria
* Tertiary qualifications in Physiotherapy and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Physiotherapist, with recognition as an Accredited Hand Therapist with the Australian Hand Therapy Association.
* Extensive clinical experience in hand and upper limb physiotherapy including novel, complex and critical management of trauma and surgery cases.
* Demonstrated leadership in research, including the ability to collaborate effectively with members of the MDT and the Physiotherapy team to contribute to research, quality improvement initiatives and service development. Demonstrated experience in coordinating team members, and in teaching and supervising staff and students.
