The Opportunity
We are excited to offer an outstanding opportunity for a Graduate Environmental Planner or Environmental Planner to join our team on a 12-month contract, with strong potential to transition into a permanent role in our Melbourne office. This opportunity is ideal for an ambitious early-career professional eager to grow their consulting skills. You could be located in any of our Victorian offices, and you will have the chance to lead and contribute to a variety of projects across Victoria.
As a key member of our team, you will have a high-level of aptitude for environmental planning, capable of providing sound planning advice and guidance to our clients. Your responsibilities will include participating in, conducting, and managing projects, and the production of technical reports. Additional duties will include proposal writing and establishing a profile in the professional community as an environmental planner.
Working closely with our multi-disciplinary team of professionals, you will become an integral member of the Environmental Approvals team and a key contributor to existing and future projects throughout Victoria. The position offers a rich learning environment and the chance to develop practical expertise while working on diverse, real-world environmental projects
What you'll do:
* Lead the planning and delivery of planning approval and ecological impact assessment projects, with the support of senior team members.
* Provide environmental planning advice to clients on the application of Victorian and Commonwealth environmental and planning legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
* Prepare concise and clear advice and recommendations on statutory and environmental planning matters to facilitate client projects.
* Work as part of multidisciplinary teams across the urban development, infrastructure and energy sectors.
* Build internal and external relationships and assist senior team members in responding to new and existing sales opportunities.
* Tertiary qualifications in planning (or related discipline).
* 1-3 years' experience in a planning related role and interest in the environmental space.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Knowledge of Commonwealth and Victorian legislation with regard to environmental approvals including the Victorian Planning and Environment Act 1987, Environmental Effects Act 1978 and Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 will be advantageous in this role.
* Australian work rights are mandatory for the role.
