The Opportunity
Based in Geelong, Victoria, and reporting to the Marketing & Sales Operations Manager, the Technical Engineering Manager provides senior engineering leadership and specialist structural expertise across Viridian’s structural glass and façade solutions.
The role is responsible for ensuring Viridian’s glass products and systems meet performance, safety, quality and compliance requirements through robust engineering oversight, site investigations, failure analysis and technical advisory support.
Working closely with internal teams, customers and external stakeholders, the Technical Engineering Manager provides structural design guidance, interpretation of Australian Standards, and risk-based technical decision-making. The role also provides leadership and mentoring within the structural engineering function to ensure technically sound and compliant solutions are delivered to the market.
Responsibilities:
* Contribute engineering expertise to product roadmap initiatives by providing technical feasibility, compliance and risk input.
* Provide senior engineering input to new product introduction projects, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, regulatory standards and production capabilities.
* Support product lifecycle activities for glass products including design, development, testing, launch and phase-out.
* Act as the subject matter expert for technical aspects of glass products, providing guidance to sales, marketing and operations teams.
* Provide technical advice to customers regarding glass performance, installation and suitability.
* Develop and maintain technical documentation including product specifications, technical data sheets, installation guides and internal training materials.
* Conduct product testing and performance analysis to validate product specifications and ensure quality standards are met.
* Ensure glass products comply with relevant industry standards by overseeing product certification and testing processes.
* Conduct site visits and deliver technical training for customers, partners and internal teams.
* Maintain relationships with suppliers, industry bodies and certification agencies to ensure compliance with evolving industry standards and regulations.
Our ideal candidate:
* A Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
* Significant experience in structural or façade engineering, preferably within the glass, façade or construction materials industry.
* Strong knowledge of relevant Australian Standards including AS1288, AS2208, AS4666 and National Construction Code requirements.
* Demonstrated experience in structural analysis and glass system assessment.
* Experience conducting site investigations, failure analysis and performance assessments.
* Strong technical problem-solving capability and sound engineering judgement.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Ability to manage multiple technical priorities while maintaining quality and compliance.
* Experience collaborating effectively with internal teams, customers and external stakeholders.
