Site and Service

Community Mental Health Team

The Community Mental Health Teams are located at both Port Augusta and Whyalla, providing specialised one-to-one counselling, group work, care coordination and health promotional activities to promote mental, emotional, physical, and social health and wellbeing. Workers provide information, education, counselling and support to adults, families and carers whose lives are affected by mental health issues. There are also specialist youth mental health clinicians based in the region and access to specialist older persons mental health services.


Role Details

Role types and classifications

* Clinical Nurse (RN/M2C): deliver essential mental health nursing services across various settings, progressing from a competent to a proficient practitioner. Take accountability for practice standards and mentor less experienced staff. Assume portfolio responsibilities aligned with career development goals.
* Registered Nurse (RN/M1): deliver comprehensive, evidence-based, recovery-oriented mental health services; work across community, acute and rehabilitation settings; engage in individual, group and family therapies, health promotion initiatives; progressive accountability for nursing standards and for activities delegated to others.
* Allied Health Professionals (AHP1/2): Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, and Social Workers provide tailored services within a multidisciplinary team; involve preventative, early intervention, treatment and evaluative approaches; supervision of less experienced staff and students as applicable.

Care settings and responsibilities

You will deliver mental health nursing and allied health services with a focus on preventative, therapeutic and evaluative approaches, working to improve mental health outcomes and wellbeing in the community.


About You

RN/M2C

* Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, with a current practicing certificate.
* Must hold a relevant postgraduate qualification in Mental Health practice.

RN/M1

* Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, with a current practicing certificate.
* Be enrolled and/or willing to enrol in further postgraduate studies within Mental Health practice.

AHP1/2

* Occupational Therapist: Must hold a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and be eligible for registration as an occupational therapist in Australia.
* Psychologist: AHP1 requires provisional registration and progression toward full registration; AHP2 requires general registration with the Psychology Board of Australia; Clinical endorsement with AHPRA is desirable.
* Social Worker: Must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be eligible for AASW membership; AHP1/AHP2 level competencies as appropriate.

Immunisation

Immunisation Risk for this position is Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances).
