CASUAL DISABILITY SUPPORT WORKER
ABOUT US:
Breaking Barriers Disability Services is an NDIS Registered Provider located in Wyong on the Central Coast. We pride ourselves on providing person centered supports to our Participants through Community Access, In Home Supports, Social Supports, Coordination of Supports, Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Community Nursing. Our programs are tailored to provide people living with disabilities and their families, services to help them live safely and comfortably at home while actively enjoying their local Community.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are seeking to employ motivated Casual Disability Support Workers to provide care and support to our Participants who reside in our SIL properties in the Wadalba/Hamlyn Terrace area.
The successful candidate must be able to remain calm and understanding whilst following strategies in the BSP and also understand the importance of building a rapport/trust, whilst always holding strong personal and company boundaries.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Personal care, cleaning, cooking, taking Participants out within the community, administering medication (training provided), skill building and transportation to appointments/outings.
As a Casual employee, there will be times when you will be required to cover last minute shifts. Availability and flexibility to cover shift cancellations would be highly regarded.
The Participant's shift times are as follows:
AM - 6:00am-2:00pm
PM- 2:00pm-10:00pm
Sleepover - 2:00pm-6:00am (Sleepover component: 10:00pm-6:00am)
Active Awake/Overnight - 10:00pm-6:00am
ABOUT YOU:
As the successful candidate you will possess the following:
* A genuine passion and interest in working within the Disability sector.
* A positive and professional attitude about undertaking personal care work.
* A commitment to adhere to guidelines around privacy and confidentiality and all other company policies and procedures.
* Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work within a team.
* Ability to establish a professional working relationship with Participants that is supportive, encouraging and in line with their individual personal plan.
* Willingness to support Participants with complex supports needs including challenging behaviours and complex medical supports.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
* NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willing to obtain if successful)
* Working with Children Check for Paid Employment (or willing to obtain if successful)
* Industry related Certificate/Qualification
* NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate (a free online short course which can be completed if successful within the position)
* Infection Control Certificate (a free online short course which can be completed if successful within the position)
* Unrestricted Drivers Licence and own Comprehensively Insured vehicle
* RELIABILITY AND FLEXABILITY TO WORK DURING THE WEEK AND WEEKENDS
