Senior Structural Engineer

Opportunity for an experienced Lead Structural Engineer to join this established and growing organisation based in Adelaide on a full time, permanent basis.

About the Company

Growing Australian company that specialises in electrical infrastructure, such as low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) switchboards, switchrooms, motor control centres, transformers, protection systems and kiosk substations. With operations nationally they are continuing to expand and deliver to multiple sectors such as mining, construction and defence.

Role Overview

Work with the design team to review and refine work practices to bring improved efficiencies in design, construction methods and materials usage, with amore modular system/approach. Also support and develop junior engineers

About the Person

Ideally you will have 5+ years experience in structural engineering design as well as the ability to support and guide less experienced engineers. This company designs and builds electrical switch rooms so experience with modular structural design, subcontractor management (cost, time and quality) for Drawings & Steel Detailing, 3D modelling skills and the ability to check structural engineering works would be highly regarded. Key to this role is the ability to be results orientated, detail orientated, professional and collaborative.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand the Company's Industries construction strategy and recommend/implement activities to improve the process around structural engineering, and overall.
• Learn and understand design and construction methods to deliver details that conform to the Coman's standard practices.
• Basic checking of design and drafting work to ensure compliance and correct interpretation of design intent.
• Work with and assist others in the Engineering and Design team in a collaborative and professional manner as required.
• Ensure specifications, performance or functional requirements are followed in all the projects.
• Liaise with Engineering team for designs based on development work, or construction and production engineers associated with the construction or manufacturing of structures or products.
• Reviewing of fabrication drawing in line with General arrangement drawings and checklists
• Interpret architectural and engineering drawings and requirements to create structural design.
• Create structural design sketches
• Resolve client comments and amend design as required.
• Prepare conceptual rigging arrangement design and drawings as per standard.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
• 5+ years' experience in the design of steel structures
• Strong knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, AS-NZS_1170 / AS_4100.
• Good understanding of steel structural design.
