Echanical Engineering Technician Position Responsibilities The Mechanical Engineering Technician will perform duties that align with ANZSCO 312512, including: Preparing drawings, plans, and designs for mechanical engineering projects under the direction of engineers. Assisting with the design and modification of mechanical equipment, plant, and fabricated components for client projects. Selecting and recommending appropriate tools, equipment, and materials for workshop and site use. Assembling and installing new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools, and hydraulic/pneumatic power systems. Undertaking estimates of material costs, quantities, and machine requirements to support tendering and project scheduling. Performing and directing field and workshop tests on fabricated components and mechanical systems to validate compliance. Collecting and analysing technical data, conducting computations, and preparing engineering diagrams and reports. Organising and supervising inspection and preventive maintenance of machines and plant to ensure safety and operational efficiency. Ensuring that all designs, assembly, and finished works comply with specifications, contract provisions, and regulatory standards. Qualifications and Experience Required Completion of a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (or equivalent qualification). Experience in an engineering workshop or metal fabrication environment, with exposure to plant, machinery, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems. Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply mechanical design principles. Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools will be advantageous.
