About the role
Novotel Surfers Paradise is seeking a highly capable Payroll / Accounts Payable Officer to join our dynamic team. As a full-time position based in Surfers Paradise, this role is integral to the smooth running of our accounting operations. You will be responsible for processing payroll, managing accounts payable, and contributing to the overall financial health of the organisation.
What you'll be doing
* Accurately processing weekly payroll for all employees, including calculating wages, benefits, deductions, and superannuation contributions
* Reviewing and approving invoices, ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors
* Maintaining detailed records of all financial transactions and ensuring compliance with accounting standards
* Providing support to the finance team by assisting with month-end and year-end reporting
* Answering queries from employees and vendors regarding payroll and accounts payable
* Continuously improving processes and implementing efficiencies to enhance the team's productivity
What we're looking for
* Minimum 2 years' experience in a payroll or accounts payable role, preferably within the hospitality industry
* Strong understanding of payroll processing, accounts payable, and general accounting principles
* Proficiency in using payroll and accounting software, such as Ready Workforce (Zambian), Sun Cloud and Purchase Plus
* Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with employees and vendors
