Director – Saints Academy

As Director of the Saints Academy, you will oversee all day‑to‑day operations and provide leadership to ensure high‑quality education and care provision.


Key Responsibilities

* Develop and implement the educational program in accordance with the Saints Academy vision and philosophy.
* Manage daily staffing ratios and organise staff schedules.
* Maintain the physical facilities, ensuring safety, aesthetics, risk management and compliance.
* Supervise and ensure the safety of children, including risk and well‑being considerations.
* Organise excursions and other programs, primarily for Vacation programmes.
* Oversee food and beverage services.
* Administer medication and manage medical needs, including health plans and risk minimisation.
* Control the overall image of the centre.
* Build and maintain relationships with families and partners.
* Lead and support staff, coordinate monthly staff meetings and morning briefings.
* Attend monthly Directors meetings.


Compliance & Quality Areas

* Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, educational frameworks, and the location budget.
* Advocate and implement best practice across the seven Quality Areas:
1. Educational program and practice
2. Children's health and safety
3. Physical environment
4. Staffing arrangements
5. Relationships with children
6. Collaborative partnerships with families and communities
7. Governance and Leadership


Organisational Relationships

The Director reports to the Head of Saints Academy, ensuring open communication on all issues pertaining to the Quality Areas. The Director is responsible for all educators engaged in the program and is expected to lead with integrity, transparency, and professionalism.


Accountabilities and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)


Influential Leadership and Quality Service Delivery

* Act as the Responsible Person onsite during hours of operation.
* Serve as a professional liaison point for parents, maintaining positive relationships.
* Provide inspirational leadership to foster staff engagement and teamwork.
* Maintain a culture of reflective practice and continuous learning.
* Manage change effectively and build community partnerships.
* Maintain effective communication with the Head of Saints Academy and staff.
* Develop, implement, and review a high‑quality program aligned with the Academy philosophy, NQS, and the My Time Our Place Framework.
* Ensure compliance with the Education and Care Services National Regulations, National Law, and NQS; report notifications and near‑miss events.
* Support the Academy through the Assessment and Rating process.
* Participate in staff meetings and activities.


Staff Management

* Support staff orientation and familiarise them with policies.
* Create cost‑effective rosters ensuring ratio compliance.
* Monitor and manage staff performance.
* Participate in performance appraisal and professional development planning.
* Ensure staff knowledge of regulations and standards.
* Contribute positively to the team environment.


Administrative Management

* Manage budgetary and administrative functions to ensure compliance.
* Monitor student attendance patterns and utilisation.
* Provide monthly utilisation and maintenance reports to the Head of Saints Academy.
* Report any issues affecting operation, approval, rating, or compliance.
* Assist in annual budget preparation.
* Ensure effective enrolment procedures and bookings.
* Review risk management plans.


Collaboration with Families, Professionals, and the Community

* Inform and consult parents about their children.
* Build inclusive relationships with families.
* Provide resources to support students.
* Engage families in orientation, enrolment, and transition.
* Represent the organisation positively at external contacts.
* Contribute to cross‑organisation projects.
* Adhere to the Academy code of conduct and confidentiality policies.
* Engage in professional conversations with other professionals.
* Respond to feedback from colleagues, families, and stakeholders.


Workplace Health and Safety

* Act in a manner that does not pose risk.
* Ensure a safe and healthy environment at all times.
* Respond immediately to safety issues.
* Implement and monitor WHS practices per regulations.
* Maintain the Academy environment with appropriate equipment and sustainability practices.
* Implement Child Protection policy and Child Safe Standards.
* Conduct daily and monthly workplace inspections and risk assessments.
* Review emergency management procedures.
* Ensure duty of care to children and families.
* Maintain educator‑to‑child ratios and qualifications.
* Implement WHS injury management system and maintain records.


Professional Conduct and Learning

* Work within the National Quality Framework, philosophy, policies, and procedures.
* Participate in performance appraisals.
* Engage in reflective practice and ongoing professional learning.
* Attend and contribute to meetings and learning events.
* Complete approved child protection training.


Position Selection Criteria


Qualifications

* Desirable: Bachelor's degree in education.
* Current National Police Check.
* Working with Children's Check.
* ACECQA‑approved Child Protection qualification.


Capabilities

* Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to lead in curriculum planning and professional development.
* Demonstrated initiative and innovation.
* Self‑management and meeting timelines.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Policy and procedure development, implementation, and evaluation.
* Computer literacy (MS Office Suite, CCSS systems, Qikkids or similar).


Skills and Experience

* Thorough knowledge of the National Quality Standards, Education and Care Services National Regulations, National Law, and the My Time Our Place learning framework.
* Experience in a management position with evidence of inspirational and decisive leadership.
* Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety.
