Forensic Nurse Examiner (Metro), Ongoing Part Time/Full Time Job Function: Medical and NursingWork Type: Ongoing - full time or part time About this role Thrive in a dynamic environment with great training opportunitiesJoin a team dedicated to excellence and compassionate careAn exciting opportunity to work at VIFM.About UsThe Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM) provides world-leading independent forensic medical and scientific expertise to the justice system, tissue for transplantation and conducts teaching and research in forensic medicine and science.About the RoleThe primary focus of this position is to provide acute forensic examinations of adult victims of both sexual and physical assault as part of a 24 hour, 7 days a week service.As a Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE), you will provide an essential service acting as an independent practitioner including (but not limited to) examination of adult victims of physical and sexual assault and family violence, collection of biological and forensic samples, preparation of medico-legal reports and statements, and provision of advice to police and other stakeholders regarding clinical forensic matters.This role works as a member of a close knit, highly motivated multidisciplinary team of professionals and interacts with a wide spectrum of doctors, nurses, scientists, legal practitioners, crisis care workers, police officers and support staff.Key ResponsibilitiesExamination of complainants, detainees and adults alleged to have been a victim or an offender of an assault and provide documentation of injuries.Preparation and presentation to the courts on evidence derived from examination.Responsibly administer prophylactic medications as required.Bio-specimen collection from complainants and detainees.Participate in the provision of mobile forensic medical services via a 24-hour roster.Provide prompt, courteous, timely and professional clinical forensic medicine services.Work cohesively with external stakeholders.Assist with training of clinical forensic medicine staff and external stakeholders.About YouYou are a compassionate and dedicated registered nurse with minimum 5 years of experience preferably in ED/Critical Care, midwifery, or women's sexual health who thrives in collaborative environments.
