Shape the Future of Australian Climate and Industry Policy
The Australian Industry Greenhouse Network (AIGN) is seeking an inspiring and forward‑thinking Chief Executive to lead one of Australia's most trusted and influential climate policy networks. This is a rare opportunity to step into a role where your leadership will directly shape national climate and energy policy at a pivotal moment for industry and the economy.

If you thrive on strategic influence, high‑level engagement, and working at the intersection of climate change, industry, and government, this role offers an unparalleled platform. You will work with senior policymakers, leading industry associations, major corporates and global climate forums—helping guide Australia's transition to a competitive, low‑emissions future.

The role requires travel to Canberra for Network meetings, additional domestic travel, and occasional international travel to attend UNFCCC climate negotiations. Location is flexible. The role is currently 0.5 FTE, with the Board open to full‑time or part‑time arrangements for the preferred candidate.

Applicants must have the right to live and work in Australia.

Why This Role Matters
AIGN has been a respected voice in Australia's climate and energy policy landscape for more than 20 years. As Chief Executive, you will lead the organisation's next phase—strengthening its policy impact, supporting members through a period of rapid change, and ensuring industry perspectives are heard where it matters most.

What You Will Lead
Strategic and Policy Leadership

• Set the policy agenda and provide thought leadership across climate and energy issues.

• Complement current and future policy directions with the organisation of the Network meetings, leading interactions with policy makers and other thought leaders, facilitating Member access into these discussions.

• Develop high‑impact submissions and represent AIGN in government and industry forums.

• Engage internationally, including participation in UNFCCC negotiations.
Member and Stakeholder Engagement

• Work closely with Australia's leading industry associations and emissions intensive, trade exposed companies.

• Facilitate member collaboration and guide the development of shared positions.

• Strengthen and expand AIGN's membership network.
Policy and Economic Insight

• Analyse policy options, industry impacts, and emerging climate frameworks.

• Provide evidence‑based advice that informs credible, practical policy outcomes.
External Influence

• Build and maintain trusted relationships with key Commonwealth and State stakeholders.

• Act as a respected and influential voice on behalf of Australian industry.
Leadership and Governance

• Oversee organisational strategy, governance, and Secretariat operations.

• Foster a high‑performance, member‑focused culture.

• Reporting directly to the Chair, provide timely and appropriate communications to the Board of Directors.

About You

• A seasoned leader with strong experience in climate policy, industry, regulatory or public policy environments.

• Highly skilled in influencing, negotiating and building trusted relationships.

• Comfortable operating at senior levels across government, industry and international forums.

• Able to transform complex policy challenges into clear strategies and actionable work programs.

• Experienced in Board engagement, governance and aligning diverse member interests.

• Strategic, independent, and motivated by impact and collaboration.

Why You Will Love Working with AIGN
You will join a network known for its credibility, influence and collaborative culture. AIGN offers the unique opportunity to:

• Shape national and international climate policy discussions.

• Engage directly with senior decision‑makers across government and industry.

• Lead meaningful conversations on Australia's net zero transition.

• Work flexibly, with domestic and international travel (including UNFCCC events).
