The role
What is the job?
The moment a guest steps into one of our hotels, they walk into a genuinely memorable experience. As a Porter you'll respond to guest requests and enquiries to ensure complete guest satisfaction.
You will assist them by taking their luggage and handing them over to the Concierge, or directing them to reception and the Guest Services Agents. You will offer valet parking and drive their car safely to a nearby carpark, hastening back to greet the next guest.
Your day to day
- Make sure our guests always get a warm welcome and a sincere farewell
- Help the team - you are always around to help your teammates and share the workload
- Support any needs at the door while ensuring the lobby area looks great
- Deliver a memorable experience to guests with a swift and personal service - not forgetting to recognise and record guest preferences
- Resolve guest issues and use their feedback to improve guest satisfaction
- Valet park guest cars safely and efficiently into our booked carparks
- Escort guests to their rooms with luggage in a professional manner following our brand standards
- Be a responsible team player - comply with our WH&S; policies and be a supporter for a greener hotel environment
- Maintain all procedures and adhere to them within the IHG guidelines; with emphasis on hotel credit policy
What we need from you
- The right to work in Australia
- Full Australian manual licence and the experience and confidence to safely valet park our guests' cars
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Fluency in the local language - extra language skills would be great, but not essential
- Excellent personal grooming and hygiene standards
- Fitness - you'll be on your feet most of the day with bending and kneeling. Sometimes you'll need to lift, push and pull objects up to 23kg – we have the equipment to support you
- Ability to work in a team and in a fast‐paced environment and prioritise workloads, as well as assist in supporting the team with other duties as required
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster – nights, weekend and public holiday shifts are all part of the job
- Your problem‐solving skills will turn issues into opportunities so every guest leaves with great memories
- Motivation – your presence will impact your team and our guests; therefore, it will be important to stay motivated and energised
