About the Role

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of a skilled remote and Indigenous health workforce in the Northern Territory. As a Lecturer in Remote Health (Allied Health), you will draw on contemporary professional practice to deliver high‑quality teaching, support students on placement, and engage in research that strengthens evidence‑based practice in rural and remote settings. Working as part of an interprofessional education team, you will collaborate closely with community stakeholders and health education partners across the NT and SA to expand pathways into health professions and support the growth of culturally safe, community‑aligned healthcare education.

* Facilitate inspiring, evidence-informed teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including placement education and topic coordination.

* Contribute to high-quality research and evaluation in rural, remote, and Indigenous health, including publications, grant activity, and student research supervision.

* Build and maintain strong relationships with local communities and stakeholders to enhance recruitment, education pathways, and collaborative health initiatives.

* Support interprofessional workforce development by contributing to allied health programs, expansion activities, and ongoing program quality and accreditation.

About You

You are an experienced and culturally responsive health professional and educator who brings strong academic capability, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to improving rural and remote health outcomes. You thrive in collaborative, interprofessional environments and are passionate about fostering inclusive, culturally safe learning experiences for students and communities. With a solid foundation in research and evidence-informed practice, you're ready to contribute to teaching, research, community engagement, and ongoing program development.

* Demonstrated ability to deliver high‑quality teaching, contribute to curriculum design, and engage effectively with students across diverse educational settings.

* A developing or established research track record, including publications, grant activity, and an understanding of research–teaching integration.

* Strong knowledge of rural and remote health issues, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, and the ability to practice and communicate in a culturally safe manner.

* Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with students, colleagues, and a wide range of health professionals.

Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT

At Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT, our aim is to be a hub for innovative health research, education, and workforce development across the Northern Territory. We engage with students, community, and stakeholders to provide critical programs, such as the Northern Territory Medical Program, Paramedicine, Rural Clinical School, and the University Department of Rural Health.

Our postgraduate education pathways (Remote Health Practice program), provides workforce development through Indigenous health and clinical skills training, and we have a community driven research program led by researchers committed to improving health outcomes. We work alongside Poche SA+NT focussing on Indigenous leadership capacity development and developing the Indigenous health workforce. All activities are driven by our values which focus on the long-term and short-term needs of the NT community.

This position involves child related work and is assessed as requiring a Working with Children Clearance/Ochre Card.
