Senior Ecologist | Brisbane, Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast
Arup invites you to apply for the Senior Ecologist role. This position will provide high-level ecological advice and support across a range of infrastructure projects in Queensland, including major road, rail, water and energy developments. The role combines independent and team-based work, involving field assessments, data analysis, reporting and client liaison.

Brisbane, Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.
The Opportunity
Lead and manage ecological components of large-scale, complex projects, including field assessments and reporting.
Represent the organisation in client and stakeholder meetings, delivering expert ecological guidance.
Mentor and support junior team members through training and technical development.
Manage project planning, timelines, budgets and resources effectively.
Ensure all ecological work complies with Arup's Management System and relevant legislative frameworks.
Responsibilities
The role requires you to:
Conduct ecological fieldwork, including bio-condition assessments and regional ecosystem identification.
Prepare detailed ecological impact assessments and GIS-based data analysis and reporting.
Engage with clients and stakeholders to align projects with environmental planning processes.
Provide expert advice on Queensland and Commonwealth biodiversity legislation.
Maintain high standards of communication, leadership and report writing under pressure.
Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in Ecology, Zoology, Botany, Environmental Science or a related field, with 7+ years of experience.
Strong knowledge of Queensland and Commonwealth biodiversity legislation and environmental planning processes.
Proven field expertise in Queensland's flora and fauna, including bio-condition assessments.
Experience with ecological fieldwork, impact assessments, GIS-based data analysis and reporting.
Excellent communication, leadership and report writing skills, with the ability to thrive under pressure and in remote field conditions.
