Number Of Positions Available: 1

Position Title: Moneycare Financial Counsellor

Classification: SCHADS Award – Levels 3 to 5

* Level 5: Accredited
* Level 4: Diploma Qualified
* Level 3: In Training

Location: Gatton Corps will be the main location with outreach to community centres in Laidley and Lowood.

Status: Part Time – 22.8 hours per week

Moneycare is The Salvation Army's (Salvos) national financial counselling and financial capability program which seeks to alleviate hardship and build long term resilience. The Role

This position provides financial counselling to individuals experiencing financial hardship or seeking to avoid financial difficulty. The role focuses on developing and implementing person-centred case plans, offering strategies to ease financial stress, strengthen financial resilience, and enhance mental health and overall wellbeing. The Financial Counsellor will work in alignment with The Salvation Army mission, policies, the Doorways service model, Moneycare procedures, and all relevant professional, regulatory and funding requirements.


How You Will Make An Impact

* Build effective, respectful relationships with community members that promote participation and self-determination
* Use a community-centred, holistic approach grounded in relational, missional, and professional practice
* Deliver services in line with The Salvation Army standards, procedures, and Practice Framework, as well as relevant laws and regulations
* Conduct ongoing assessments of community members' needs, issues, and circumstances from first contact through to exit
* Develop collaborative, tailored case plans that include a variety of interventions to support individual needs and goals
* Assist community members to access support services, build community connections, and advocate on their behalf with service providers and other external parties
* Monitor progress, review case plans regularly, and adjust as needed to ensure goals continue to be met
* Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation and data in accordance with TSA standards using SAMIS systems
* Submit funding body reports accurately and on time
* Identify risks to clients, staff, and The Salvation Army and promptly notify the Manager/Team Leader
* Identify service gaps and make recommendations to enhance service delivery
* Engage in self-care practices, professional development, and supervision


What You Will Bring

Qualifications & Accreditation
* Level 5: Diploma of Financial Counselling and accredited membership with a recognised financial counselling association
* Level 4: Diploma of Financial Counselling and working toward accredited membership
* Level 3: Enrolled in, or willing to enrol in, the Diploma of Financial Counselling and progressing toward completion within required timelines


Additional Requirements

* A valid Working with Children Check (as required by the relevant state)
* Current driver's licence
* Experience in a social services environment and/or strong understanding of factors contributing to financial hardship and exclusion
* Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
* Competency in Microsoft Office and Windows-based applications
* Strong communication skills
